Every Cryptid Audio plugin ships as a VST3 and a Standalone app for Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Here’s the whole setup, plus the two things people trip on.

1. Run the installer

  • Double-click the installer you downloaded from your receipt email or store library.
  • It places the VST3 in the standard Windows folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3) and installs the Standalone app.
  • If Windows shows a “protected your PC” prompt, see §4 below.

2. Show it in FL Studio

  • Open FL Studio.
  • Go to Options → Manage plugins.
  • Make sure the VST3 folder above is in your plugin search paths, then click Find installed plugins (a full rescan is fine).
  • The plugin appears under the Effects list — add it to a mixer track or channel.

Other DAWs

Any VST3 host works the same way — point its plugin scan at the VST3 folder and rescan:

  • Ableton Live: Preferences → Plug-Ins → enable VST3, rescan.
  • Reaper / Cubase / Studio One / Bitwig: add the VST3 folder to the plugin paths and rescan.

3. Activate your license

  • Your license key is in your receipt email (and your store library).
  • Add the plugin in your DAW; paste the key when prompted.
  • One license covers all your own computers. Lost the key? Use the store’s “My Orders” link in your receipt, or email us (below).

4. The two common gotchas

“Windows protected your PC” on the installer

On a brand-new installer SmartScreen can show this until the file builds reputation. Click More info → Run anyway. Our installers are code-signed; you can verify the publisher in the prompt details.

“The plugin isn’t showing up in my DAW”

This is almost always one of three things — check in order:

  • You didn’t rescan. Re-run your DAW’s “find/rescan plugins” after installing.
  • The VST3 folder isn’t in your scan paths. Add C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.
  • It’s in the DAW’s blocklist from a failed earlier scan. Clear/verify the plugin in your DAW’s plugin manager and rescan. In FL Studio, re-running Find installed pluginswith “Verify plugins” usually fixes it.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
  • A reasonably modern multi-core CPU.
  • A 64-bit VST3 host — or just use the Standalone app.
  • No internet connection required to run it. No iLok.
